How to Build a Believable Human Character - Introduction

I have no plans to show you or provided you with step-by-step instructions for starting with a blank viewport and ending with a completely modeled, rigged, textured and rendered human character.

What I will do is show, explain and provide information and instructions (including some step-by-step), on specific aspects of the production process. This will cover from before you even start-up max, to creating output for showing on the web. My goal is in effect to provide the type of higher-level information that I was looking for around 2 years ago.

At that time, having used all of the tutorials that I could find on the web, I had managed to teach myself up to this point.
A head model from 2001
The problem is that as I started to improve, I came to realise all the problems that I had in the model that I was working on. The decision then had to be made, do I continue or take what I have learned and start all over again. Most of the time it pays to start over again, since you know that to spend any more time on a “wrong” model would just be a waste.
